Pre-Departure Resources

This course is for students who are in the pre-study in the U.S. stage, whether they are thinking about studying in the U.S., searching for a university or college, or preparing for departure. This course provides them with the opportunity to determine their goals, know how to search for the best-fit program, learn what documents they need, and prepare for cross-cultural and language learning. Modules in this course focus on finding and choosing a school/program, becoming familiar with the U.S. educational system as well as logistical issues. Students learn about visa requirements, money management and health & safety in the U.S. In addition, students are introduced to cultural and language strategies to improve their learning skills. Participants are encouraged to bring their own culture with them as they embark on this exciting journey.

RESOURCES AND INFORMATION

We are always looking to collect more pre-departure resources and information to assist international students thinking about coming to the U.S., including resources that provide special insight into the culture of the U.S. and the college classroom. If you have any information or resources you would like to share, please email us at grhodes@globaled.us.
