Fall 2008 OSAC College and University Study Abroad Health, Safety and Security Seminar for Study Abroad

In coordination with Texas Tech University, the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) and Consular Affairs, U.S. Department of State, and others, there will be a full-day health and safety workshop in Lubbock, Texas on the campus of Texas Tech University.
This free, one-day seminar will be provided to address critical study abroad health and safety issues. Through support from sponsors, there will be no cost to attend and a pre-workshop networking reception will be hosted on Thursday evening, September 18th and a continental breakfast and lunch will provided to attendees during the workshop.

- Risk and Crisis Management Challenges From Crime, Accident, Injury, Effective Communication and Insurance to Terrorism
- Alcohol and Drug Use and Abuse
- Mental Health Issues
- Sexual Harassment and Assault
- Program Director Training
- Orientation Programming
- Resources to Support Effective Program Administration
The event will be held at the International Culture Centre building on the campus of Texas Tech University, and a block of guest rooms are available at the Radisson Hotel in Lubbock at a rate of $54 per night, plus tax. Reservations should be made as soon as possible, but no later than September 5, 2008 (please note that this is a football weekend at Texas Tech and there will be no hotel rooms available on Friday night after the workshop. The seminar will end at 4:00pm and transportation will be provided to the airport). Flights to Lubbock run through Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and Albuquerque.
