California Independent and Private
Colleges and Universities

The range of opportunities for study abroad in the independent colleges and universities of California is almost unlimited. Students can pick a country or area of interest and there will be a program to fit his or her needs. Program length ranges from a few weeks to a full academic year.

Some programs are open only to home campus degree students, while others are open to any student interested in study abroad.

In addition to traditional study abroad programs, many campuses offer a chance to do research in an international location. For example, there are programs that include:

  • field study in the rain forest of Australia
  • internship opportunities around the world
  • immersion-style programs where students take courses alongside host university students

In addition, graduate students, as a required part of their MBA program, may do a structured consultation project with an international company.
